What is Wholesale VoIP?
Wholesale VoIP is the business of buying and selling voice call termination in bulk between carriers, resellers and high-volume senders, usually priced per minute by destination prefix.
Wholesale VoIP explained
Wholesale buyers connect to a provider’s softswitch with IP authentication, send traffic for many destinations and receive a rate deck listing the price for each prefix. Quality is measured with ASR and ACD, and billing is reconciled from CDRs.
The market ranges from premium CLI routes, where caller ID and quality are protected, to low-cost non-CLI routes. Choosing a provider means checking route quality for your destinations, billing increments, payment terms and how quickly the NOC responds to problems, not just the headline rate.
Example
A regional carrier buys termination to 40 countries from two wholesale providers and uses LCR to pick the best route for each prefix every hour.
Put it into practice
Prepaid SIP trunks and wholesale routes from $200. Ask sales for rates or the NOC for a technical answer.
