SIP Trunk France — +33 Termination & DID Numbers

France tightened caller ID rules twice in recent years. Unsolicited commercial calls must come from dedicated ARCEP ranges, and since October 2024 operators authenticate French fixed-line CLIs (the MAN mechanism), so calls showing a French number you do not hold get dropped. Plan the CLI before you plan the route.

Overview

Routing calls to France

Calling windows matter: France runs on Paris time, and we route +33 calls for Paris, Lyon and Marseille, Toulouse, Lille and Bordeaux across several carriers so a peak-hour congestion event on one network does not take your campaign down.

ARCEP sets the France numbering plan, and our prefix tables follow it closely. Supported number types: geographic, national, mobile and toll-free. Inside the country, numbers are dialled with a 0 trunk prefix. Strip it before you send the call, and send 33 followed by the national number.

For inbound numbers in France, plan on paperwork: proof of address and company or identity documents are usually required before a DID goes live. Termination needs no documents beyond normal account checks.

What you get

What you get in France

One account and one balance, with the same SBCs for termination and inbound numbers.

  • CLI route tier

Caller ID delivered end to end on +33 calls. Use it for sales, support and any traffic where answer rates matter.
  • Non-CLI route tier

A lower-cost tier where caller ID delivery is not guaranteed. Suitable for internal or transactional traffic that does not depend on the CLI.
  • Number types

Geographic, National, Mobile, Toll-free. DID availability varies by range and city.
  • Codecs

G.711a/u and G.729 on every route, G.722 and Opus where the far end supports them. T.38 for fax.
  • Channels on demand

Concurrent call limits are set per account and raised as your traffic grows. No fixed channel bundles.
  • Multi-carrier failover

Every +33 prefix is mapped to more than one carrier. Failed attempts move to the next one automatically.

FAQ

France SIP trunk questions

Which numbers can I use for sales calls in France?

Unsolicited commercial calls must come from the dedicated ranges ARCEP set aside for that purpose. Ask sales which ranges we can supply.

What is the MAN authentication mechanism?

It is France's caller ID authentication for fixed numbers. Calls presenting a French fixed number must be signed, otherwise the number is not shown or the call is blocked.

What are 09 numbers?

Non-geographic numbers that are often used for VoIP services. They are charged like a landline to callers.

Do French DIDs need documents?

Usually yes. Expect proof of address in France and identity or company documents.
