SIP Trunk Brazil — +55 Termination & DID Numbers

Brazil is large, regulated and price-sensitive: domestic long-distance dialling still uses a two-digit carrier selection code, and ANATEL requires active telemarketing to mobiles to come from the dedicated 0303 prefix. Getting those details right is the difference between calls that connect and calls that are flagged.

Overview

Routing calls to Brazil

Traffic to Brazil leaves our SBCs on more than one upstream carrier per prefix. If a leg toward São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro starts returning 503s or long post-dial delay, the next attempt goes to another carrier automatically. Calls to Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and Curitiba follow the same failover logic.

Numbering in Brazil is managed by ANATEL. We terminate to geographic, mobile and toll-free ranges and price each one separately on the rate sheet. Inside the country, numbers are dialled with a 0 + carrier code trunk prefix. Strip it before you send the call, and send 55 followed by the national number.

Outbound termination to Brazil starts as soon as your balance is topped up. Local DIDs are different: ANATEL rules usually require address and identity documents, which our team collects and checks before activation.

What you get

What you get in Brazil

One account and one balance, with the same SBCs for termination and inbound numbers.

  • CLI route tier

Caller ID delivered end to end on +55 calls. Use it for sales, support and any traffic where answer rates matter.
  • Non-CLI route tier

A lower-cost tier where caller ID delivery is not guaranteed. Suitable for internal or transactional traffic that does not depend on the CLI.
  • Number types

Geographic, Mobile, Toll-free. DID availability varies by range and city.
  • Codecs

G.711a/u and G.729 on every route, G.722 and Opus where the far end supports them. T.38 for fax.
  • Channels on demand

Concurrent call limits are set per account and raised as your traffic grows. No fixed channel bundles.
  • Multi-carrier failover

Every +55 prefix is mapped to more than one carrier. Failed attempts move to the next one automatically.

FAQ

Brazil SIP trunk questions

What is the 0303 prefix?

ANATEL requires companies doing active telemarketing to use numbers in the 0303 range so consumers can identify and block them. Confirm with sales before sending telemarketing traffic.

How are Brazilian mobiles dialled?

Mobiles have 9 digits after the 2-digit area code and start with 9. From the trunk send 55 + area code + number, e.g. 5511912345678.

Do Brazilian DIDs need documents?

Usually yes. Expect to provide a CNPJ or local address and identity documents before activation.

Is CLI preserved on Brazilian routes?

On CLI routes, yes, provided you present a valid number. Non-CLI routes are cheaper but answer rates are lower.
